Fun Facts About the Presidential Candidates!


In honor of President’s day earlier this week, and the race for the seat as the 45th President gets hotter and hotter as we approach election day, here are some interesting facts about all the current Presidential candidates!

  1. Jeb Bush:
  • He is related to three former US presidents: George W. Bush, his brother, George H.W. Bush his father, and Franklin Pierce, who was the 14th president, whom the Bush family lineage connects to.
  • His full name is John Ellis Bush; his nickname comes from his initials JEB.carson
  1. Ben Carson:
  • Awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2008 by George W. Bush, which is the highest civilian award in the US for people who have made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”

  • He clerked with the Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist.
  • He was born in Canada, although the constitution states that to be eligible to run for President one must be a “natural born citizen” by that definition, Cruz is a natural born citizen by being born to an American mother and having her citizenship at birth. No one has really challenged this so far.

  • After leaving state legislature in 2008, He became a political science professor at the Florida International University in Miami.
  • His wife, Jeanette Rubio, was a cheerleader for the Miami Dolphins.

  • He used to own the New Jersey Generals of the United States football league
  • He is a partner in the Miss Universe franchise
  • He has an Economics degree from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

  • She is the former Secretary of State, and considered the most traveled Secretary ever, traveling almost 1 million miles to 112 countries.

  1. Bernie Sanders: 
  • Recorded a folk album in 1987 called We Shall Overcome.
  • He previously worked as a carpenter, filmmaker, writer, and researcher.
  • He once spoke on the Senate floor for eight hours straight trying to reverse what he considered a law that gave tax breaks to the rich.

All these eight candidates come from different backgrounds, and if it is one thing we can learn from them is that you got to start somewhere to work towards your dreams! No matter what political party or candidate you support, we encourage you are to exercise your right to vote!
